SchoolTube.com Launches Moderated
"SAFE" Site
Welcome to SchoolTube.com, a website for K-12 schools that blocks out inappropriate content through an innovative Chain of Accountability process. Videos and pictures are student produced and moderator approved, thus producing a pure and refreshing site that is appropriate for school use.
SchoolTube.com is different than other media-sharing websites that currently exist. The SchoolTube platform allows students to upload media into a ‘holding’ area that keeps the media inactive. An email is sent to a moderator informing them that the media is available to be viewed for approval. Only after the media has been approved by the moderator is it available for viewing on the site.
SchoolTube can be used by students, teachers, administrators, and school-related associations.
SchoolTube is for students:
to share media from school, about school, just for fun, or just because. who want to showcase academic, sports, and club events to family, friends, and the world! interested in competing for national awards with the best of the best.
SchoolTube is for teachers:
who want to share teacher approved media right from their classroom. interested in integrating technology into their curriculum. wanting to learn from recognized educational leaders. to share concepts, ideas, and lesson plans with other teachers across the nation.
SchoolTube is for principals:
who want to support their teachers, students, and community. interested in utilizing safe, moderated media onto the school's website. who want to keep up with national educational organizations and activities. to post welcome videos or pictures from their building administrators for parents and students.
SchoolTube is for parents:
who want their kids to be able to share media in a safe environment. to keep up with what is happening in their child's school. who want to show off their child's talents and accomplishments.
SchoolTube is for school boards:
looking for a public/private partnership. who would like to promote community participation. looking to highlight recognition events.
SchoolTube is for IT managers:
who want to gain media sharing with no need for additional servers. looking for a non-invasive, web-based communication tool. who want the community to access media without the security concerns.
SchoolTube is FREE. Therefore, any school may experience the benefit of media-sharing in a SAFE environment.

What People are Saying about SchoolTube
Michelle Hoch from Washington High School in Washington, MO says:
SchoolTube.com is a fantastic way to get student work out there for people to enjoy. The access is safe, easy, and a long-awaited answer for schools that do not have their own website to stream their video on. I am so happy SchoolTube has come along!

"SchoolTube has helped my students in so many ways! As a teacher, I LOVE that it provides my students with the opportunity to easily view work produced by other students from all across the nation. I believe being able to view this work teaches them new techniques and enhances their creativity. Also, seeing other students' video production work motivates my students to produce higher quality videos. Often times while students are viewing SchoolTube I hear, "That was so cool...How do I do that Mrs. Mills?" or "What a creative way to transition. I am going to try that in my next project.". SchoolTube also helps the students come up with additional ideas for stories. Another opportunity SchoolTube gives the students is to share and show their work with family and friends that don't live nearby. As a teacher I feel fortunate that my students have a school approved site on which they can share their work and learn from others."

"I truly appreciate the opportunities that SchoolTube.com has allowed my video students at Ladue and to me personally. SchoolTube is the real deal, and a fabulous resource for our students' educational experience!"

"I personally LOVE SchoolTube! For a teacher, it helps to see what other schools are doing. Everyone has a different level in TV production across the nation. I, personally, have one class, and our school is not a magnet school for TV.
I understand that it seems like more teachers are viewing schooltube.com than students. I know at the beginning of the year, I had all my students sign up for SchoolTube.com. I also tell them to look specifically at different clips to constructively "critique" the segment, and comment on its presentation. I did that for my final, and it seems like to me, that students know a lot about "what is wrong or right" about a piece, but when it comes time to do it themselves, they sometimes forget crucial aspects.
SchoolTube.com has been great for me and for my class. The kids get a kick when their segment is uploaded....and it is a lesson in itself, when students see other people's work.

"1.) I and other teachers are grateful to have a safe site for students to post work. More because we can control what goes out, therefore greatly reducing the risk of any legal problems.
2.) I use Schooltube to show my students what can be done, and to set goals and practices based on what they see. This helps tremendously when it is time to enter a contest or to upgrade our own programming.
3.) Schooltube is easy, and free!"
