SchoolTube.com Launches Moderated
"SAFE" Site
Welcome to SchoolTube.com, a website for K-12 schools that blocks out inappropriate content through an innovative Chain of Accountability process. Videos and pictures are student produced and moderator approved, thus producing a pure and refreshing site that is appropriate for school use.
SchoolTube.com is different than other media-sharing websites that currently exist. The SchoolTube platform allows students to upload media into a ‘holding’ area that keeps the media inactive. An email is sent to a moderator informing them that the media is available to be viewed for approval. Only after the media has been approved by the moderator is it available for viewing on the site.
SchoolTube can be used by students, teachers, administrators, and school-related associations.
SchoolTube is for students: - to share media from school, about school, just for fun, or just because.
- who want to showcase academic, sports, and club events to family, friends, and the world!
- interested in competing for national awards with the best of the best.
SchoolTube is for teachers: - who want to share teacher approved media right from their classroom.
- interested in integrating technology into their curriculum.
- wanting to learn from recognized educational leaders.
- to share concepts, ideas, and lesson plans with other teachers across the nation.
SchoolTube is for principals: - who want to support their teachers, students, and community.
- interested in utilizing safe, moderated media onto the school's website.
- who want to keep up with national educational organizations and activities.
- to post welcome videos or pictures from their building administrators for parents and students.
SchoolTube is for parents: - who want their kids to be able to share media in a safe environment.
- to keep up with what is happening in their child's school.
- who want to show off their child's talents and accomplishments.
SchoolTube is for school boards: - looking for a public/private partnership.
- who would like to promote community participation.
- looking to highlight recognition events.
SchoolTube is for IT managers: - who want to gain media sharing with no need for additional servers.
- looking for a non-invasive, web-based communication tool.
- who want the community to access media without the security concerns.
SchoolTube is
FREE. Therefore, any school may experience the benefit of media-sharing in a SAFE environment.

What People are Saying about SchoolTube
Michelle Hoch from Washington High School in Washington, MO says:
SchoolTube.com is a fantastic way to get student work out there for people to enjoy. The access is safe, easy, and a long-awaited answer for schools that do not have their own website to stream their video on. I am so happy SchoolTube has come along!
Ken Leach, Director of Educational Products says:
SchoolTube provides a web-based platform for moderated videos that is safe and secure. Scholastic broadcasters are using SchoolTube.com everyday to share best practices and create weekly news broadcasts for their schools. SchoolTube can help schools transform a simple classroom, with an existing computer, into an internet video broadcasting network. It’s simple, educational, economical, and fun!
Industry Analyst and Internet Blogger, Skipvia (http://community.uaf.edu/~skipvia/blog/) writes:
SchoolTube is “a network of students, educators, and industry working together to foster video production and internet publishing in a safe online learning environment.” Modeled after YouTube (and many similar sites), this site publishes teacher-moderated and approved videos submitted by schools. These are not “educational” videos in the typical sense – rather, they are student or teacher produced videos from a variety of genres, including comedies, music videos, school events, careers, ceremonies, and even student council meetings. Great fun and a good option for uploading student productions.
About SchoolTube's MVP
SchoolTube also presents the MVP, a mini video player that will give your school’s website’s viewers a chance to see diverse student and teacher-produced videos from across the country. The videos you’ll find in the SchoolTube MVP are the cream of the crop from SchoolTube.com’s comprehensive database of K-12 videos.
Every video on SchoolTube.com is teacher moderated and school appropriate. Videos on SchoolTube show the possibilities of what can be done in the classroom, and are a great learning and motivation tool for your entire student body. From sports to drama, assemblies to clubs, and academics to activities, you are sure to find an assortment of new student and teacher created content on SchoolTube.com daily. The MVP is like having a national, student-produced television network right on your own website!
To place an MVP on your website is as easy. Pick out the playlist you would like to add to your site (we have over 20 topics to choose from), and copy and paste the single line of code onto your site. Don't worry about the MVP's size, you can adjust its height and width to make it fit almost anywhere.
To get an MVP (or to get information on how you can create an MVP with your own school's videos), simply go to www.MVP.SchoolTube.com.
