No. Participation in the competition is free of charge.
HOW DO THE STUDENTS COMPETE?
1. Fill out the online entry form in the UPLOAD section of the Competition Website
2. Choose from the following four,which competition you would like to enter(1-4,students may enter 1 or all of them)Write a 2 - 3 minute speech on your "Environmental Solution" in For more details about the specifics of each competition click here.
*The Technology Competition
*The Finance, Public Policy and The Environment Competition
*The Eating, Health and The Environment Competition, and/or
Prepare and upload an original song, perform an original spoken word piece, create a music video, a video montage of paintings or photography, a video essays or even a short documentary on the environment for
*The Jason Mraz Art, Music and The Environment Competition
3. Study the 5 secrets DVD and workbook to learn how to present your ideas in a compelling and impactful way.
4. Write a 2 - 3 minute speech on your "Environmental Solution" in
5. Create and upload your video
HOW WILL THE VIDEOS BE JUDGED?
The videos will be judged by The National Forensics League, Words That Shook The World, the sponsors of each competition and celebrities and VIPs chosen by Words That Shook The world. The videos will be judged on the following criteria:
1. Creativity of the idea, service project, innovation or invention or artistic video
2. Knowledge of the subject matter
3. The possible benefits and positive impact of the idea, service project, innovation or invention or artistic video
4. The delivery of the speech or the presentation of the artistic work. In other words, "Is it compelling, moving, heartfelt, passionate?" and "Does it move me to want to take action!"
WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?
Winner of each competition: $5,000 scholarship
Runner Up: $2,500 scholarship
2nd - 5th Place: $1,000 scholarship
ARE THERE PRIZES FOR THE TEACHERS?
Yes. The teacher prizes will be as follows:
1.The teacher who has the highest percentage of students uploading videos (with a minimum of 30 total students to supervise)
2. The teacher whose student wins each competition
3. The teacher who uploads the best video in "The Teacher Competition"
The teacher who has the highest percentage of students uploading videos (with a minimum of 30 total students to supervise), the teacher whose student wins each competition and the teacher who uploads the best video in "The Teacher Competition" will win prizes.
WILL THERE BE SUPERVISION OF THE VIDEOS?
Yes. Schooltube and your teachers will supervise the videos. If your video is flagged for content, The Words That Shook The World Team will temporarily pull your video from the queue. If it is deemed to be objectionable, your speech will be removed and you will be disqualified.
