Dave: Last Day on the Set

Actors on the set of the ISM Films Boot Camp film, Big Game. This morning I felt a little like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.  I woke up to news of an earthquake (as opposed to a tornado), which by the way I totally missed.   Reported for our morning pick up and was transported from the “streets of New York” to the hills of Pakistan and Turkey.  Today was my day to work in the Art Department handling set dressing and props.  All was going quite well until I found out that the Property master and Set Designer/Dresser had to go do other things.  Bottom line it became “my set.”  So Cheryl and I began acting like politicians (mudslinging), building a sniper blind, dressing a café and equipping a host of Taliban fighters, Pakistani soldiers, and of course our star.

Actors on the set of the ISM Films Boot Camp film, Big Game.It was a good day with the exception of having to be constantly coated and re-coated with SPF 50 which is sort of like packing yourself in Zinc Oxide.  Today was our last actual day of shooting so we said goodbye to new friends and professional contacts that patiently taught, coaxed, encouraged, and pushed us far beyond the physical limits that many of us expected.  Tomorrow is all about editing so we will bet to see some of the first rushes and prints of our week’s efforts.  That should be cool.  I’m starting to droop a bit.  It’s been another 17-hour day.  Did I mention there are some really long days in production?

Later.
