National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)

In existence since 1916, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is the preeminent organization of and national voice for middle level and high school principals, assistant principals, and aspiring school leaders from across the United States and more than 45 countries around the world. The mission of NASSP is to promote excellence in school leadership.


National Association of Student Councils

Since 1931 the goal of NASC has been to help all student councils become more effective organizations. NASC represents middle level and high school councils nationwide. It seeks to provide a valuable leadership partnership between students and their school. It creates the opportunity for students to become effective leaders, thus encouraging and influencing a positive school climate.

NASC is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Its operation and administration are at the national office in Reston, Virginia. National Elementary Honor Society

The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) was established in 2008 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in cooperation with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to recognize elementary students in both public and non-pubic elementary schools for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility, to provide meaningful service to the school and community, and to develop essential leadership skills in the students of elementary schools.

Through the development of a chapter that functions with these purposes, elementary schools create a method for acknowledging achievement and focusing on the needs of the total child. In addition, NEHS provides information and resources to enhance the culture of achievement in the whole school, not merely the culture of a select few. This Web site and the resources being sent to every member school are designed to support these purposes and strengthen the lives of our nation’s elementary students and the schools in which they are enrolled. An informative brochure containing an overview of all that NEHS has to offer to schools is available.


The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character (and Citizenship for NJHS). These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in activities of the NHS and NJHS. NHS and NJHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. Territories, and Canada. Knight Foundation, RTNDF’s High School Journalism Project seeks to identify, inspire, train and challenge the next generation of diverse electronic journalists and First Amendment advocates. International Student Media Festival (ISMF)

The International Student Media Festival celebrates outstanding classroom media projects. Students and teachers from kindergarten through college are honored in a three-day event that includes workshops, screenings of winning entries, and an awards ceremony. It has now grown to be one of the oldest and largest events of its kind.


JEA
JEA endorses the News & Journalism section of SchoolTube as a resource for student editors, journalism teachers, and scholastic publications advisers. MENC's mission is to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all.
Founded in 1907 with 64 members, today's membership has grown to more than 130,000 including active music teachers, university faculty and researchers, college students preparing to be teachers, high school honor society members and MusicFriends. National Forensics League (NFL)

Over $153,000 in college scholarships are awarded.

Student Television Network (STN)

STN is a non-profit professional teachers organization made up of affiliate schools from coast to coast. Each has an active interest in furthering scholastic broadcasting and video production.
